Welcome to the dedicated website for the planned development of a new rental community in central Reading that would be developed and managed by the John Lewis Partnership.

We have now submitted our planning application to Reading Borough Council, and we look forward to continued engagement with local residents and the wider community as the project progresses.

Given the rapid growth of the town and the enormous demand for new homes, we have an opportunity to regenerate the vacant John Lewis warehouse site, located next to the A329 and opposite the Oracle car park, to create a thriving new rental community.

Transforming such a well-connected, brownfield site would create 215 energy-efficient homes, all of which would be managed by the John Lewis Partnership for years to come, offering residents greater security and a high level of customer service.

We are proposing a variety of community benefits, including affordable housing, improved public realm, new public spaces and community partnerships. We are keen to have your input on what else we can do to ensure our plans make a positive difference to the local area.

The next steps

Since our initial consultation in January, we have made some significant changes to the proposed development, including increasing the amount of outdoor garden space, creating more dual-aspect apartments and refining the facade of the building. Following submission of the planning application, we are awaiting determination by Reading Borough Council.
